Sara Alaica grew up in Serbia and Canada, and spent a decade living abroad in Asia before becoming an American citizen in 2016. Her writing has appeared in Cleaver, Spry, Switchback, Paper Darts, and elsewhere, and her story “The Iron Gates,” published in the Tishman Review, was nominated for Best of the Web 2017. She studied literature at Carleton University and the University of Toronto, and was a writer in residence at Taleamor Park in Indiana. She lives with her husband and pet turtle in New York City, and leads the local chapter of Women Who Submit, a national organization empowering women writers. She is also a member of the New York chapter of the Women’s National Book Association.
